John 9:35
Jesus heard that they [the Pharisees] had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”
What does it mean to believe in the Son of God. Or what does it mean to believe in Jesus? The word believe is defined as, “accept as true.”
When we talk about Jesus and accepting Jesus as true, what does that mean?
- Believe - Level 1 - This would be the most basic level. Yes, God is real and yes, I accept that God’s existence is true. I trust that Jesus is God’s son. If I do not believe this, then the Bible is void of meaning, because Jesus claims this as his identity.
- Believe - Level 2 - I believe Jesus has the desire, ability, and authority to forgive sins. Specifically forgive sins of those who put their faith in him and in him alone.
- Believe - Level 3 - I believe I am who Jesus says I am. At this level is a vulnerable level of placing my value on what Jesus says I am. This is total loss of control, full surrender, and this is where it gets really weird.
